Week 1 Games – 4/7

Our second night of games featured some wacky circumstances in each contest.

In the night’s opener, we had the first forfeit loss of the season, as Team O’Bryant only had 3 guys.  Despite this issues, a scrimmage was played between the two squads.

A player to watch in the coming weeks is O’Bryants’s Dasonte, who showed excellent skills both offensively and defensively.  The highlight play of the night came when Dasonte broke the ankles of a Team Kevin player, and the gym erupted with enthusiasm.

A surprise visit from PHGH alum Jamory Lewis was a great to see.  His high flying game really came out with multiple slams.

Team Kevin will win the game with a score of 50-40.

 

Our second contest of the night featured two West End House teams:  Team Mark vs. Team Zack.  What started out as a even match eventually became 72-61 victory for Team Zack.  Team Mark was unable to contain Javaughn Edmonds, who, after a slow start, finished the game with 39 points with seven 3’s and multiple assists.  Javaughn, who was the first pick in the draft, really showed up to play last night.

The game became increasingly tight throughout the final 10 minutes of the 2nd half, following a fire-alarm evacuation that closed down the building.  Despite excellent 3-point shooting from both sides, Team Zack was able to pull out the win.  Ramses Gomes on Team Zack, helped lead the squad with 14 points and some big 3’s.

For Team Mark, Stephen Bouyer had a nice game with 24 points and 7 rebounds.  If the team can look to big-man Emperor in the post more often, Team Mark will be good in shape in the coming weeks.  By cutting down on the quick shots on each possession, Team Mark will surely be able to find some great looks.

Team Terrell vs. Team Zack

Both squads picked up victories in the first week of games.  The key for Team Terrell is whether or not they can deny Javaughn Edmonds the ball and contain his play.
